Singapore – The green city
On our way to Australia we did a 2.5 day stop in Singapore. To relax a bit after Oman and all the city trips in Iran, we booked 2 nights in the Marina Bay Sands – and it was totally worth all the money! Even though we both usually prefer smaller and more casual places in the nature, we both liked the hotel so much. The view from our room in the 42nd floor is simply unique and the same goes for the famous rooftop pool. We definitely recommend a stay in Marina Bay Sands.
Also we were positively surprised by Singapore itself – having seen only Hong Kong and Shanghai before, the city is much greener and even cleaner than we’ve heard and expected before our trip. Also (as you will see by the pictures below 🙂 ) the city really shines during the night. All the different skyscrapers and old buildings are beautifully lit in the dark.
What we also enjoyed is the gardens by the bay where you can go and see two glass greenhouses during the day and a light show during the night.
What we didn’t like: The extreme air-conditions in buildings and the relatively expensive drinks/wine.
But we’ve to say that we are happy to have done a stopover in Singapore. As we’ve heard, Singapore used to be a stopover destination for 1-2 days only but has recently become a destination where you can easily also spend more days. That’s also in line with our feeling – the 2.5 day stopover was to short to really experience Singapore. But good thing is, we got another destination where we’ll go back one day 🙂
